  9. the incus or anvil, and the stapes or 
  10. stirrup, extend across the middle ear 
  11. to the membrane covering the oval 
  12. window.  The membrane-covered 
  13. round window is located just below 
  14. the oval window and just above the 
  15. Eustachian tube which connects to 
  16. the pharynx and helps to equalize the 
  17. air pressure between the outer and
